About Me
Matriculating through Georgia State University has been a lengthy, challenging and eventful journey. I want to thank GOD and all of my friends, family (church family too), and loved ones for their support, encouragement, guidance, and dedication to help me achieve this major goal :)
Why Biology? The answer to that is not because I like science, my favorite subject is actually Math! But since I was young my most over-used word was "why?". I wanted to know WHY the earth rotated, WHY I wasn't allowed to eat cake right before bed, WHY our brain facilitates everything we do. When selecting a major I figured Biology would allow me the opportunity to uncover the answers to so many of my "why" questions. But that is not why I desire to become a doctor. My unwavering dedication to becoming a doctor stems from discovering my passions while in college. My commitment to social justice grew while witnessing the healthcare disparities currently existing globally and in my own communities and I knew I needed to be apart of the solution. I reflected on how I could help and deciphered ways to couple my inquisitive nature with the compassion I have for all people, to truly make a difference. I aspire to pursue a career in medicine and I am currently studying for the MCAT as I prepare to apply to medical school.
Summer 2020? : Before graduating I had a goal to study abroad. I was finally going to fulfill that goal when I was accepted to study Biotechnology in Chengdu, China as a biology elective for my degree. However, due to Covid-19 the trip was canceled. Although I was celebrated by the university in the spring, I still had to fulfill my Biology degree requirements which is why I am a summer graduate.
